Frequently asked questions

Where are my records stored?

Your period days, symptoms, notes and meals are kept only on your phone, in an encrypted database that isn’t included in your phone’s cloud backup. When you write to Lale, your message goes through our server to our AI provider so it can reply; Lale’s server doesn’t store your messages. More in our privacy policy.

What happens to my records if I change phones?

Because your records live on your phone, they don’t move to a new phone by themselves. On your old phone, open the Me tab, tap the gear at the top and choose Create a backup under Your data. Your records are written to a single file encrypted with a password you choose; save it to Files, Drive or anywhere you like. On your new phone, install Lale and choose Restore from backup in the same place. It works between iPhone and Android, too.

Don’t forget your password: Lale doesn’t know or keep it, and a backup can’t be opened without it.

How do I delete my data?

Open the Me tab, tap the gear at the top and choose Delete all my data under Your data. All your records, chat history and notes are deleted from your phone. As we have no account system and our server doesn’t store content, there is nothing else to delete anywhere.

How many messages can I send Lale each day?

On the free plan you can send 3 messages and 1 plate photo every day. Messages that only log something (like “I’m so bloated today”) don’t count. Your allowance resets at midnight, your local time. Premium gives you much more chat and photo allowance.

How do I see what Lale remembers from our chats?

Lale keeps short notes of lasting things you mention in a chat, such as how you eat or your work routine. You can see them under What Lale learned in chat in the Me tab and delete any of them. You can also say “don’t note this” or “forget this” in the chat.

Can I trust what Lale says?

Lale shares general information and suggestions; it isn’t a doctor and can’t diagnose. AI can be wrong. If you describe a serious symptom, Lale calmly points you to a doctor or emergency care. If you feel unwell, see a healthcare professional without waiting for Lale; in an emergency, call your local emergency number right away.

Can I use the fertile window for birth control?

No. The fertile window is an estimate based on your records; Lale isn’t a method of birth control. To avoid or achieve pregnancy, talk to a healthcare professional.

How accurate are the calories?

Calories and nutrition values are worked out from our table of more than a thousand dishes, Turkish cuisine included, and the portion you choose; they are approximate. Recognising food from a photo can be wrong, so before saving you can change any dish with Fix or add another one. If you’d rather not see numbers, turn on Hide calories in Settings.

I’m not getting notifications

Open the Me tab, tap the gear at the top and check that the main switch under Notifications is on. Also make sure Lale is allowed to send notifications in your phone’s settings. If period tracking is off, you won’t get period notifications.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On iPhone, open the Settings app, tap your name and choose Lale AI under Subscriptions. On Android, open Google Play, tap your profile picture and choose Lale AI under Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel your subscription.
